Kick Off Party At Big Grove Brewery – 6 to 9 PM

To kick off the celebration, you're invited to a family-friendly evening at Big Grove Brewery in Iowa City on Thursday, June 12, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Get ready for some fun with a purpose! On their 25th Anniversary, Iowa KidSight is hosting Amblyopia Mini-Golf, where you get to play mini-golf, but with the sight of someone with amblyopia. You can also step into the shoes of someone living with Fuchs Dystrophy — a condition that often leads to corneal transplants — by wearing special simulation glasses. Then test your skills in unique games like “Mystery Spin,” “Blind Slide,” and “Cornea-Hole.” Compete for prizes and learn more about the Iowa Lions Eye Bank’s latest breakthroughs in transplantation, research, and public education from our passionate staff.

Food and drinks will be provided. Attire is casual. Kids and family welcome!

The tour will start promptly at 2:30 PM. When you arrive check in at our welcome desk and let the gallery hosts on duty know you are here for a scheduled tour with Iowa Eye.

We will have two docents leading the tours, so we will need to split up into two evenly numbered groups. Below are some guidelines from the Stanley:

  • All backpacks, large bags, coats/jackets, and other bulky items must be checked before entering the galleries. All bags over the size of 10 inches x 10 inches x 5.5 inches must be left in a locker.
  • Food and drink are not allowed into the second-floor galleries. Finish these items in our first-floor lobby or save them for later in a locker.
  • You are welcome to take photographs for personal use, but no flash photography. Some artworks or exhibits cannot be photographed, these artworks will be clearly marked with signage.
  • Our building is accessible and ADA compliant. Lightweight, portable seating is available in the second-floor galleries near the elevator.
  • Paid, accessible parking is available below the museum. You must pay for parking upon arrival and parking is limited to two hours maximum. Information on parking fees, height restrictions, and payment options can be found here: https://transportation.uiowa.edu/parking/facilities/stanley-art-ramp
  • If you are over 15 minutes late for your scheduled tour, the Stanley Museum of Art reserves the right to cancel your tour.
